Sol-Gel Coatings for Temperature Sensitive Substrates

Surface functionalization under atmospheric pressure conditions

The project is aimed at companies that want to functionalize temperature-sensitive materials (e.g. plastic surfaces, films and plastic-modified substrates) using sol-gel technology. This is an innovative, wet-chemical coating process with which the substrate can be given application-specific properties.
An overview of the possibilities is shown in the figure.

Project content:

Investigations on functionalization possibilities of temperature-sensitive materials, such as: plastics, films and plastic-modified substrates, with regard to the mentioned properties.

Test series for the application of different inorganic and inorganic-organic sol-gel coatings, including any necessary pretreatment processes, with the existing plant and equipment technology.

Verification of the intended functionalization, as well as corresponding analysis of the layers (e.g. layer thickness, wetting behaviour, adhesive strength, morphology, etc.).

Assessment of the potential and suitability of the sol-gel technology for the respective company-specific application.

The results are continuously and exclusively available to the participants.

Project information:

Project start:Not yet determined - Registration is still possible after project start
Project duration:10 months
Project costs:5.500,- € (plus VAT)

The invoice will be issued at the start of the project.
