Fields of Application

Potential fields of application for our materials include clinical use in regenerative medicine (tissue regeneration, wound treatment, tissue engineering) and surgery, the formulation and release of pharmaceuticals (low-molecular and oligomeric agents, proteins, enzymes, cells), especially in local and implant-supported therapies, and the development of diagnostic systems (functional sensor surfaces).

  • Resorbable coatings of implants with cell-growth-stimulating, drug-releasing, or dehesive properties
  • Antibacterial coatings of medical devices and other products
  • Nano-/microstructured nonwovens, hydrogels, foams with tailor-made properties for specific applications in medicine, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and other areas of life science
  • In situ curable materials for medicine (surgical adhesives, materials for filling bone and soft tissue defects)
  • Materials for additive manufacturing processes (3D printing, bio-printing, stereolithographic processes)
  • Functionalization of sensor surfaces (e.g. for SPR-/ RIfS-based techniques)
