If plasma treatment improves the properties of powdery materials was examined by a research, resulting in the conclusion that plasma activation leads to a better distribution of particles in aqueous solutions. Due to the fact that the use of environmentally hazardous chemical additives can be avoided, these reasearch results are relevant to practise as well as the proof that plasma treatment enables embedding of the mentioned particles in electroless nickel (Ni) coatings, thus improving the wear behaviour of the coatings. Tests were performed with the polymer powders polyimide and polyetheretherketone and with the ceramic powder hexagonal boron nitride (BN). Please read the full paper here for more information.
