Magnetism

Both static and time-varying 2- and 3-dimensional distributions of magnetic and electric fields can be simulated. The finite element simulation software ANSYS Maxwell is used for this purpose. Often, the aim of simulations is to optimize a magnetic or electrical system in terms of field distribution, geometry or performance data. It is also possible to consider temperature effects. If not available, the material data required for the simulation can be obtained from own measurements.

Application examples:

  • Electrical field distribution in a high voltage capacitor
  • Magnetic field homogeneity in a Helmholtz coil
  • Eddy current losses in the core of a rapidly switchable 3T magnet
  • Deformation of the magnetic field of a permanent magnetic sputter cathode by a magnetic target
  • Forces during the assembly of permanent magnets
  • Development of a NMR magnet system
  • Optimization of the spiral geometry of a magnetic angle encoder
