The institute was founded in 1994 and currently employs about 140 people. The competences of INNOVENT are bundled in five research areas:
- Surface Technology (OFT)
- Primer & Chemical Surface Treatment (PCO)
- Magnetic & Optical Systems (MOS)
- Biomaterials (BMA) as well as
- Analytics & Materials Testing (ANA).
INNOVENT is active in various networks and clusters and is the initiator of the Theme Days on Interfacial and Surface Engineering (ThGOT), the Atmospheric Pressure Plasma User Group (ak-adp) and the Inn-O-Kultur forum.
