FT-IR Spectroscopy

Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy is a molecular spectroscopic method used to determine chemical, preferably organic, structures in substances, substance mixtures or on surfaces. Qualitative and – with increased effort – also quantitative determinations of compounds and structural elements can be performed.

  • determination of the chemical structure of organic and inorganic substances
  • analysis of solids and liquids
  • material identification
  • determination of impurities
  • detection of degradation and ageing processes
  • transmission / contamination of optical windows
  • quality control / incoming goods inspection
  • characterization of surface functionalization

  • measuring range 7900 – 350 cm-1 (1.27 – 28.65 µm)

IR Microscopy

Application Examples:

  • FTIR mapping
  • surface analysis
  • organic and inorganic particle analysis
  • fiber and pigment analysis
  • residue analysis on filter materials
  • coupling with liquid chromatography
  • monitoring of chemical reactions
