Plasma jet system
Using a high frequency corona discharge it is possible to activate surfaces or to deposit functional layers on a workpiece surface. The plasma burner (Plasma blaster by Tigres GmbH) is constructed in form of jet nozzle whereas in the inner of this nozzle there is located a radial symmetrical electrode. The outer part of the nozzle is grounded. Between the two electrodes of this plasma head a plasma can be generated. Feeding compressed air through the electrodes this plasma can be directed to the workpiece surface. Behind the commonly used plasma activation this method can be used for deposition, too.
Samples for possible application
- plasma activation of polymers
- barrier layers on polymer
- thin film deposition of selected parts of the workpiece (3D)
- transmission improvement of transparent polymers and glasses
- Creation of hydrophilic surfaces (on polymer surfaces, too)
